Omono runs in your web browser at app.omono.co. This article covers registering, the welcome email, signing in and forgotten passwords. Once you are in, Your first steps in Omono takes you through setting up your organisation.
Registering a new organisation
Open app.omono.co/register. The Register form creates a new organisation and makes you its first user.
Fill in every field. Only the marketing tick box is optional. Create Account stays greyed out until every required field is valid.
Field | Notes |
First Name, Last Name, Telephone | Your own details. |
This becomes your sign-in address. | |
Company | This becomes your organisation name. |
Country | Your home country. |
Currency | This becomes your base currency and cannot be changed later. |
Terms of Service and Privacy Policy | Both must be ticked. The links open in a new tab. |
What happens next
Click Create Account.
The page changes to We're Setting Up Your Account while Omono builds your organisation with its default settings.
Within a couple of minutes you receive an email from Omono <[email protected]> with the subject Welcome to Omono! If it does not arrive, check your spam or junk folder.
A standard registration gives you the default settings but no companies, stock or documents of your own. Omono can also load demo data when you register from a link that includes a demo data set, or through the Xero App Store (see below). You can remove it later; see Your first steps in Omono.
Setting your password
Click the link in the welcome email to open Set Your New Password. Enter your password in Password and Password Confirm, then click Save Password. Passwords need at least 8 characters with both letters and numbers. Omono then signs you in and opens the dashboard.
The link works for 30 days. If it has expired, go to the sign-in page and click Help, I forgot! to get a new one.
The person who registers is the main account holder and an Admin User. Admins add the rest of the team under Settings → Team; every new user except an Internal Contact gets the same Welcome to Omono! email. See Add a user to your team.
If registration fails
If the page says it could not create your account, click Create Account again. Registration uses Google reCAPTCHA in the background, so a browser extension that blocks Google scripts can stop it. Try another browser, or switch the extension off for app.omono.co. If the problem continues, email [email protected].
If your email address is already registered
The page still says We're Setting Up Your Account, but no new account is created. The email you get, and what to do next, depend on the address:
If it already has a working account, you get an email with the subject Omono Account Signup. Go to app.omono.co/login and click Help, I forgot! to reset your password.
If it belongs to an Internal Contact in another organisation, which cannot sign in, you get the same email, or none at all. Email [email protected].
If you registered before but never set a password, Omono simply sends the Welcome to Omono! email again.
Registering through the Xero App Store
You can also start from Omono's listing in the Xero App Store. Xero asks you to sign in and choose the Xero organisation to use. You then return to a shorter Register form that says Thanks for signing up using Xero. It has no detail fields: Omono takes your name, email, company name, country, telephone number and base currency from Xero. Tick the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy boxes and click Create Account. The rest is the same as a standard registration.
Your new organisation may start with demo data. If you cancel on the Xero side, or Xero sends you back with an error, Omono shows the standard Register form instead. If your Xero organisation's base currency is one Omono does not support, the page says Sorry, we couldn't create your account. You can still register with the standard form and a supported currency, but Omono cannot then sync with that Xero organisation, because both must share the same base currency. Registering through Xero does not switch on the Xero sync. Connect it later under Settings → Connect; see Connecting Omono to Xero.
Signing in
Open app.omono.co/login.
Enter your Email Address and Password and click Sign into Omono. Tick Remember my email address and this browser fills in your address next time. Only the address is stored, never your password. To forget the address, untick the box before you sign in.
Two-factor code
If two-factor authentication (2FA) is switched on for your account, the page changes to Two-factor code after your password is accepted. Type the six-digit code from your authenticator app in Authentication Code; Omono submits it as soon as you type the sixth digit. If the code is wrong, enter a fresh one. Click Back to sign in to return to the password step.
If your organisation requires 2FA and you have not set it up, Omono shows Two-Factor Authentication Required after you sign in. Set it up before you continue. To set up 2FA, or if you have lost your authenticator, see Security, two-factor authentication and My Account.
If your organisation allows it, the code step shows a Remember this device tick box. Tick it before you type the code. Omono then does not ask this browser for a code again until the trust expires. For how long trust lasts and what ends it, see Security, two-factor authentication and My Account.
If the sign-in is refused
The page says Uh-oh and tells you it cannot find an account with those details. For security Omono does not say why. The same message appears when:
the email address or password is wrong;
your user has been archived;
your role is Internal Contact, which cannot sign in;
you have not yet verified a changed email address;
you have never set a password. Click Help, I forgot! to set one.
Forgotten password
Click Help, I forgot! beside the Password box. The Password Reset form opens.
Check the Email Address and click Reset Password.
The page says Thanks. If the address matches an account, an email with the subject Omono Password Reset is on its way. Check your spam folder if it does not arrive.
Click the link in the email within 3 days and set your new password. The same rules apply: at least 8 characters with letters and numbers.
Omono signs you in. If 2FA is on, the page says Password Changed instead; click Go to sign in and sign in with the new password. Omono asks for a code unless this browser is a trusted device.
A reset also signs out every other device. Only the newest reset email works, and each link works once.
Staying signed in
After 30 minutes without activity Omono signs you out. About 3 minutes before that it asks Are you still there?; move the mouse or press a key to stay signed in. You can be signed in on one browser at a time: signing in elsewhere ends the earlier session. See Security, two-factor authentication and My Account.
